Digital forensics professionals work both in computer network security and in the investigation of crimes involving the use of computers and networks. The number of information security incidents is on the rise, making this a particularly high-demand field. At the same time, computers are used in virtually all types of crimes -- sometimes playing a key role in the commission of those crimes, as in financial fraud and identity theft, and at other times primarily serving as record-keepers of conversations and files.
Computer Security & Forensics students will learn about the law, computer and network technology, and the investigative process. They will learn to articulate the dynamics of "white-collar crime" and to apply their knowledge of computers, software and the law to research crimes.
